Special Olympics campaign – Wear the Laces
Some of you will have heard about the latest Special Olympics fundraising and awareness campaign – Wear the Laces. This is a very simple and effective way for to support Special Olympics Great Britain (SOGB).

It is all about showing your support, the official Wear the Laces day is on December 3, which is the International Day of People with Disabilities.

We will be supporting the SOGB selling the laces in our stores. A box of laces will be placed on front counter.

In addition, we will also be supporting SOGB through the Pennies initiative in all UK stores. Customers can round up to the nearest pound when ordering online and paying by card…..

The Pennies Foundation
We are delighted to be the first retailer to get involved with a new charity fundraising initiative called Pennies, which will be going live on November 1, 2010.

The Pennies Foundation has created Pennies, which is the electronic charity box. It is the equivalent to the tin on a store counter for people to throw in their change – only it’s all done when people pay by card or electronically. Customers purchasing their Domino’s pizza online, with a card payment, will be given the option to round up their order to the nearest pound – and all the change goes to UK registered charities. What’s even better is that 75% of the money raised through Domino’s customers will benefit our corporate charity, Special Olympics Great Britain.

It’s all about the many not the few and, as further retailers come on board, Pennies believe that raising £80 million a year to help a range of UK charities is quite possible.

This is a very exciting new venture and we are delighted to be leading the way with it. Hopefully we will soon be reporting how much extra money has been raised thanks to the generosity of our customers.
