There’s less than a week to go to Lincoln’s big city centre lights switch on and organisers the City of Lincoln Council are urging families to arrive early for the event.
Christmas officially begins in Lincoln on the evening of Thursday 19th November with comedy legends and stars of ‘I’m a Celebrity…’ Cannon and Ball lighting up Lincoln in time for the late night shopping season.
As special guests of the Right Worshipful, the Mayor of Lincoln, Councillor David Gratrick, the popular comedy duo will switch on Lincoln’s recently restored Christmas lights as part of an extra special night of family fun. They’ll also be available to meet their fans and sign autographs from 7.20pm to 8pm at the Waterside Shopping Centre.
The official switch on will be at 7pm at the Memorial, St. Benedict’s Square on the High Street. The Civic Procession will leave the Guildhall at 6.50pm. A special service will be conducted by the Acting Mayor’s Chaplain, John Campbell and will feature performances by Ermine Primary School Choir and Mount Street School Choir.
Main organiser, Kate Fenn, Civic Manager at the City of Lincoln Council said: It’s great to get the support of Cannon and Ball who were only too happy to help us get Christmas off to a bang in Lincoln. We are advising people to wrap up warm and arrive early to get the most out of the celebrations.
Cannon and Ball are performing in Jack and the Beanstalk at the Theatre Royal from 12th December to 16th January.
